Compote, Olive Dish, Oyster Fork, and Salt Spoon

These silver pieces, including a pepper shaker, a compote, an olive dish, an oyster fork, and a salt spoon, were sent to the White House by Tiffany and Company circa 1882, during Chester Arthur's presidency. Arthur was a close friend of Charles Lewis Tiffany, owner and founder of the firm, and acquired a variety of silver from the company during his term. The pepper shaker was made by Adams & Shaw Company for Tiffany and Company, but the rest of the pieces were made by Tiffany's firm.
